Fantastic read!! Loved it from start to finish. ... The book was romantic, sad and funny. It made me laugh and cry. The story kept me intrigued and I just wanted to keep on reading as there was never a dull moment. I highly recommend reading this book.

An Excerpt From Under Her Wings
My Ship Has Sailed
Gillian hung up the phone with a heart-wrenching sob. That phone call had been the hardest one she had ever had to make. She curled into a ball on her bed and wept for hours. Her phone rang repeatedly, but she chose to ignore it.
How did you recover when your soul knew that its mate was with someone else? If she died tomorrow, she would at least go with a clear conscience. She had tried to protect the person she loved most in the world.
Scattered all over the bed were the pictures the press had taken of Gabriella and Edward. She had also acquired pictures of Edward shielding Gabriella from the press at pubs and pictures of Gabriella wrapped in Edward’s arms in the back of an SUV with Liam driving. She didn’t have to look at them anymore; she knew every detail of every picture. They were seared into her brain. She was one of few people who knew that look of love and protection in Edward’s eyes.
It was final now. Edward had moved on. But how did she? Did she want to move on? Nope. She needed to let her heart bleed. Why stop now?
For the past year, she had been punishing herself for a crime she hadn’t committed. She knew why Edward believed it was her who had made the sex tape. One wrong joke had sealed her fate. It had left a tickle in the back of Edward’s mind, and because of it, she had been crucified. Damn! Why had she joked around so much back then?
As a typical Hollywood brat, everyone in the world expected her to fall into the same pattern as her mother. She had been blessed with the fairy tale childhood then had it all snatched away in her young adult life, leaving her with nothing and no one.
Stephanie Wainwright had been the gossip rags’ number one headliner. After she had successfully pushed Gillian’s father away, after years of accusing him of affairs then the death of their son, she had turned to the bottle, and she continued to make a spectacle of the family every chance she got.
Her dad was still Hollywood’s most sought-after actor who had just recently married a girl three years younger than Gillian. Her father wanted another son, and it looked like now he was going to get it—the second coming would arrive in two short months.
Damn, she had run out of vodka. She was going to have to walk to the liquor store and stock up. It was going to take more than one forty-pounder to make the pain of Edward and Gabriella go away. Karma was a bitch.
She had sat down to check her wallet for cash when the photo booth shots of her and Edward fell to the floor. As she bent down to pick them up, she leaned too far forwards and fell onto her hands and knees. She tried desperately to pick them up, but her hand-eye coordination was off.
She leaned her forehead down to the ground, while she screamed and cried.
God, she was totally pathetic. No wonder Edward didn’t want anything to do with her. He was much better off with Gabriella.
Thankfully, she passed out on the floor and was able to sleep it off, waking up the next morning with the worst hangover of her life. That was saying a lot since she had turned to the bottle for a while after Edward had broken up with her.
While lying on the floor, staring up at the ceiling, she remembered the day she had looked in the mirror and seen a younger version of her mother. She had quickly dumped all of the booze out and decided to become a woman Edward would have been proud of. After months of trying to find a way to get to Edward, she had finally given up and turned to charity work as an escape.
Getting up off the floor, she tried to push her hair off her face, but it was stuck there.
She stumbled into the bathroom and looked into the mirror. There, once again, was Mommy dearest staring back at her.
“Okay, regroup, girlfriend,” she said to the frightful mess of a woman staring back at her. “This is the first day of the rest of your life.” How many first days had she given herself in the last year? “It doesn’t matter. As long as I keep doing it, that’s the important thing, right?”
Still talking to the mirror, she continued, “You survived the conversation with Edward’s new girlfriend. You did what was right. Now you have to pull yourself together and become a woman Edward would be proud of. No, you need to become a woman you can be proud of.”
She brushed her teeth then jumped into the shower. Yup, today was the first day of the rest of her life, so she had better get to it and purchase a dress for the charity function she had later this week. Then she was off to Nepal for two months, building homes with Habitat for Humanity.
If she couldn’t save herself, maybe she could save someone else.
