When fate forces their competing goals to align, neither are prepared for the irresistible attraction between them. Can they see beyond their pasts and a millennia old hate between their people? Or will they continue to distrust, allowing those plotting against them to win?

An Excerpt from the Book

Take an inside look at Diomere's Exile. Read this sizzling excerpt from the book.
Playing her part, she bit her bottom lip and looked up at him through her lashes. "Pardon, m'lord. I didn't mean to mistake you for a running path."
His low, husky voice caressed her ears, its softness belying strength and control rather than weakness. "If all runners were as beautiful as you, I'd be willing to be the path more often."
She barely kept from rolling her eyes. Expose a little cleavage or the hint of a curvy figure and men were all the same, the sight of a woman's face being totally unnecessary to judge beauty. Even had she not been wearing the mask, she knew there was nothing beautiful about her. Too tall and mouthy, she preferred dressing like a Diomerean nobleman rather than the noblewoman she was. Never mind the scar that bisected the left side of her face.
"Thank you, m'lord," she said, tone dry. She smiled and batted her lashes up at him.
His low chuckle sent a shiver down her spine as he leaned toward her until his breath tickled her ear. "Acting the coy miss isn't one of your gifts," he said, his lips grazing her ear, causing an arrow of desire to arc through her body.
She leaned up on her toes, their cheeks only a breath apart, and whispered back. "Insincere flattery is obviously one of yours."
She caressed his chest, unable to resist the swell of muscle under her palms as she pulled away, chin lifted. Striking amber irises circled in a black outer ring and thick black lashes peeked from the eyes of the mask. Her mind went blank as desire rolled through her, taking her breath. A ripple rolled through the power inside her, like this man had reached in and touched a finger to the still surface of her a'mi. Her smile slipped. You're acting like Father. Her stomach flipped, threatening to eject her morning meal. She jerked her hands from his chest as if she'd been burned.
He trapped her gaze in his. "Is it not said that flattery makes friends and truth makes enemies?"
Nadia scowled and shoved her a'mi deep.
"Then I'd rather be enemies." She stepped back and held her hand out in the traditional greeting of her people, rather than the shoulder clasping Thunoans used. His smoldering gaze held a challenge as he slid his palm against hers. His thumb caressed the back of her hand, making her shiver, before he finally pulled his hand back toward his chest, the parchment she'd slipped him tucked between his fingers. The greeting ended with their palms over their hearts. Nadia ignored the heat pooling in her stomach. "The gods keep you, m'lord."
"Asha's blessing on you, lady."
She told herself she clenched her fist because the greeting demanded it, not to hold on to the feel of his skin against hers.

New Release + Giveaway: Unconditional Surrender by Gina Danna

NEW BOOK RELEASE
from award-winning author Gina Danna
Unconditional Surrender Tour Graphic
UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER
Gina Danna
Series: Hearts Touched by Fire Book 2
Genre: Historical Romance, Historical Fiction, Victorian Romance, Civil War
Publisher: To The Bitter End Publishing
Publication Date: September 4, 2017
She's the best Union spy and he is a Confederate officer, thrown together during a war where love stands little chance of winning, except by an unconditional surrender….
Unconditional Surrender
Confederate Major Charles Silvers has had enough war. After two years of fighting, his view of a glorious Southern victory over the North has lost its luster and been replaced by a burning desire to return home to Virginia and life as it used to be, before the war. When he meets Sarah Lawrence during the siege on Vicksburg, Mississippi, he is convinced the blond-haired beauty could fill the void in his life—but what he does not know is that this Southern belle isn't what she appears to be…
Tortured by memories of the night in 1860 when masked bushwackers torched her Mississippi home and killed her father, Sarah escaped the South. Now, however, she's back and seeking revenge. As one of the best spies in the Union Army, she's in a unique position to get her wish. For her, a Confederate Major, even a devastatingly handsome one, is just the tool to obtain the information the Union needs—even at the cost of her heart.
Loved this book! The plot offers the perfect conflict between Southern folk--one, the heroine, who is fighting on behalf of the Union, and the hero, who's an officer in the Confederate Army.

An Excerpt from the Book

Take an inside look at Unconditional Surrender. Read this sizzling excerpt from the book.
Charles wiped his lips with the linen napkin, placing it on the table as he pushed his chair back. "The meal was greatly appreciated. But, if you'll excuse us, we do have to continue." He held his hand out to Sarah.
As she placed her hand in his and rose, she saw through the window behind him the pinking sky outside. Sunset. A lump formed in her throat, one she desperately tried to swallow as ice raced down her spine.
Night was coming, and all the demons would be loose.
"Major, please." Kavanaugh sat back in his chair. "To take a lady into the hazards of the night in this area is not a good choice. I invite you to stay here. There are more than enough bedrooms upstairs, and we will catch up with the general tomorrow, I am sure."
Charles's grip tightened. "While we appreciate the offer, I believe we must move on. I must get my darling wife to safety."
This time, the Irishman stood. "All the more reason to stay. We are safe here. My man Bentley will keep an eye out for any mischief. And I assure you, General Johnston will arrive."
"How can you be so sure, sir?" Charles challenged.
With that, all fear of the growing darkness dissipated. Sarah wanted to know as well.
"I have received word. He will meet us tomorrow."
As a spy, opportunity here blossomed with each hour. Her mind raced. One thing was certain: she needed more information, but she remained firmly quiet, like a good Southern belle. Ladies were not supposed to be versed in politics or the war. Many she knew had more knowledge than men ever gave them credit for.
Charles frowned. "Sir, General Johnston is very high in command. I fail to see how he could take time from the war to ride here for a meeting with a foreign visiting politician." He was gripping the back of the chair, his knuckles turning white. "If you wanted to view the workings of this conflict, why are you not with General Pemberton at Vicksburg? Or General Forrest, or Lee, or a multitude of others? Why here, in Mississippi?"
The politeness that had cloaked the evening came to an icy halt with the anger in Charles's voice. His demeanor took on the edge of civility mixed with the animosity of frustration and futility.
Kavanaugh, though, did not react right away, aside from sitting straighter and toying absently with his cuffs.
"Major, I am well aware that you've been a loyal soldier to your cause. Your country can be proud to have you as her defender. Yet strong will and abilities, at this point, are not the winners. The Confederacy needs help, needs recognition by the queen of England and the rest of Europe. Other methods must be taken to pursue the win and gain the long-term right to be a nation." He scooted his chair back. "Come, let me show you why I know your general will make it here."

The new principal took his breath away. She had creamy skin, golden-brown hair, and eyes that shone like sapphires. She was small and slender but had curves he couldn't miss. She was almost the exact opposite of Gracie, who had been both model slim and tall. Emmit knew he was staring, but he wasn't the only one.
"Pops, what's the matter witcha?" Fletcher wanted to know, jumping out of Casey's lap and moving toward him, sizing him up. "You's ain't sick, are yah?"
Emmit shook his head to clear it. He glanced back at Principal Walker as she, too, became aware of the girls once again. He tweaked Fletcher's nose.
"Nah, kiddo, I'm fine, just fine," he said as the principal held out her hand.
"Mr. McKay, I presume, I'm Savan…um, Principal Walker. Sorry you had to come out here," she said and after one brief shake, dropped his hand.
"Ma'am. Well, you being the new principal and all, we were bound to meet sooner or later." He almost smiled, then motioned to his girls. "Who wants to explain to me what happened this time?" He looked from one guilty face to another. Feet shuffled and hands clasped.
"Daddy, it was all a big misunderstanding. Things were said, and then one thing led to another, and well, here we are," Alexandra explained in the wispy voice he knew she'd been practicing in the mirror.
Great read that keeps you guessing from beginning to end. Couldn't put it down!

An Excerpt from the Book

Take an inside look at Bound and Saved. Read this sizzling excerpt from the book.
The woman jerked upright with a look of such abject terror that Zach experienced a rare twinge of remorse before he recalled how far away from the mainland he’d already sailed. He recognized her right away as the new girl in the marina office, which added to his curiosity.
"I repeat, what’re you doing in my bed, on my yacht?"
"Oh!" Scrambling off the bed, she picked up a backpack, stuttering, "I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to fall asleep. I was just so tired, and the rocking lulled me to sleep…Please, I’ll leave…I didn’t mess with anything…"
"That’d be damned difficult seeing as we’re already a few hundred miles from Miami. Unless," he added with a derisive lift of one brow, "you’re up to rowing back to shore. There’s a chance, a slim one, you’d make it about the time I return at the end of the week."
Scrubbing her eyes, she mumbled, "What?" before jerking her head up and gazing at him with a look of wonder filling her wide green eyes. "Are you telling me we’re miles away from Miami? In the middle of the Atlantic?"
Before Zach could confirm she had it correct, she jumped up on the bed, drawing his frown as she stood on tiptoes to press her face against the portal.
"Oh. My. God," she breathed, her tone conveying awe, and if he wasn’t mistaken, a touch of excitement. As fast as she’d leapt on the bed, she hopped down and flew past him, the backpack clutched in one hand as he listened to her flying up to the first tier.
"Great, I’m not only stuck with a stowaway, but a lunatic as well," he groused as he followed and found her standing on the port side deck, gazing in rapt pleasure across the ocean. Gone was the fear she woke with, likely brought on by his rude awakening. The sun picked up hints of red and blonde highlights in her unruly, poorly cut cap of short brown hair that seemed to suit her pixie face. With a squeal, she spun in a circle then stumbled to a stop when she faced him.
Flushing, those emerald green eyes didn’t shift away from him as she said with point-blank honesty, "I can’t explain."
That was a new one, Zach mused with a touch of humor that didn’t last long. "Why?" he returned with just as much bluntness.
Her shoulders drooped and for a split second, so fast he may have imagined it, the fear on her face she’d awoken with returned. "I’m sorry, I just can’t. But, I promise I won’t get in your way-did you say you planned to be gone for several days?"
"Yes. Four days I was looking forward to spending alone, getting acquainted with my new purchase." He swept out an arm to indicate the yacht.
"This boat looks big enough I can hole up somewhere and you’ll never know it-why’d you trade in your other boat? It was already one of the largest at the marina."
God, he hoped her penchant for jumping from one topic to another wasn’t a habit. He might have to strangle her and toss her overboard if so. And why the hell did hearing her point out his extravagance produce a sense of guilt? He could afford a bigger yacht, so he bought one. It was that simple.
"It’s a yacht, not a boat. Look," he stated, firming his tone and placing his fists on his hips. "It’s obvious I’m stuck with you, unless you annoy the hell out of me, in which case I’ll toss you overboard."
Nonplussed, which again, surprised him, she quipped with a teasing smile, "Guess I better be good then. I’m hungry," she announced as the loud rumble from her stomach made its displeasure known.
"Well, you know where the kitchen is. Don’t expect me to wait on you." Pivoting, he took a few steps before tossing over his shoulder, "Pick one of the smaller staterooms to bunk in and stay out of mine."
"Oh, heaven forbid the captain share his spacious sleeping quarters," she taunted.
This time, the twinge of guilt prodded a curse from him, but his anger at this whole fucked-up excursion prevented him from turning around and shocking her with a small example of what he liked to do with women who shared his bed. He wondered how sassy she’d be if he yanked down those jeans and turned her ass a rosy red. Climbing the circular stairs leading to the top level, he decided to take out his frustration with his stowaway with a round of skeet shooting. Annihilating a dozen clay discs ought to help improve his mood.

It was the fourth September 10th, 2001 we had spent in New York City. And each of those Mondays discouraged us even more. Hanging around the World Trade Center for a month (real time) got us no closer to the unfettered access we needed. The possibility of being stuck in this ruthless rut forever was starting to weigh heavily on my soul.
"What’s wrong?" Thena asked.
We were standing on the Observation Deck of the South Tower and I hadn’t said a word since we got there. And now, I was looking over the edge of the railing like I might just jump over it. Wouldn’t do me any good, though, considering there was a jumper’s net not far below. And even if there wasn’t, a fall from 110 stories wouldn’t do me any harm. I’d hit the ground then wake up on September 3rd, 2001 remembering absolutely nothing.
"What’s wrong," she asked again. "Is it the dream?"
"Look, it wasn’t a wet one if that’s what you’re thinking. It was actually more like a nightmare."
"But one in which you kept screaming out Zoe’s name."
In my dream, my mother was attacking my father and his girlfriends. A bloody foursome of sorts. Only it was just my mother’s body. But the head belonged to my ex-girlfriend, Zoe. She had a crazed look in her eyes. I watched as she stabbed my father over and over again. And then, as he lay there in a pool of his own blood, she took a Phillips head screwdriver and slowly, sinfully twisted it right-left-right, into my father’s temple. He screamed but the screams were my voice. Begging for Zoe to stop.
"The dream was nothing," I said. "And everything is cool." The lie was better than the truth. The truth is I was coming unglued. Destabilized by this loop which faithfully kept twirling us round and round. I was a moon trapped in its orbit. And its gravity was slowly tearing me apart.

In ancient Éire, men and women take to the legends for answers. Different-colored eyes are the mark of a Seer, it is said, and those who can see the future are in league with the devil. They cannot be suffered to live.
He wishes to prove himself…
Marcán of Clonascara bears the bloodline of Brian Boru, the legendary high king, and his prowess as a warrior has earned him great respect. But he was born with different-colored eyes, and there are some who would have him suffer a Seer's fate. His fiercest adversary is Beibhinn, mother to Diarmuid, his close friend and king, and Astrid, the woman who holds his heart. If Astrid ever showed him any interest, he would fight Beibhinn and any army to wed her.
She is desperate to escape…
Astrid is sick of her mother's belittling, but her brother is in no hurry to see her married, so she decides to see to her own match-making. The man she approaches quickly reveals his lack of honor, but her overbearing mother pushes her to wed him anyway. When Astrid discovers Marcán's love for her, she realizes that what she wants has been in front of her all along. True happiness awaits them, but only if they can put a stop to her mother's plans.
Ms. York carried this book forward with lots of suspense and no shortage of her depraved antagonists looking to fulfill their own agendas. Eyes of the Seer is storytelling at its best presenting a top-notch read!

"Astrid?" Marcán kept his tone low and controlled. "What d'ye here?"
The men stood, appearing surprised, ripped out of their lustful thoughts. That confusion swiftly changed to discomfort when they caught sight of Marcán's expression. They moved away from her, opening the circle and allowing him a direct view of her, still seated beside Pádraig.
Her hair was tousled and her eyes were widely innocent. She dipped her head, eyeing the men from beneath her lashes.
"Nothing." Her voice held a husky tone. "We are… talking."
The men turned back to him and waited. Could they actually have any expectation of his consent? Mayhap in the Meic Murchadha clan. Marcán slowly gazed at each man in turn, looking him right in the eye, before finally settling his gaze again on Astrid.
"Do they all know ye are Diarmuid's little sister?"
Each man took a step back. All but Pádraig, whose face maintained a look of superiority, his hand still on her shoulder like he owned her.
Marcán moved closer to Astrid, and the other men continued to yield, stepping even farther away. "Pádraig."
"I thought ye were telling yer stories, Marcán," Pádraig said.
Marcán looked at his hand on Astrid's shoulder. And waited. Time slipped by. One of the other men coughed, and Pádraig finally removed his hand. Heaving a deep sigh, he moved to stand with the others. Marcán refused to acknowledge Astrid's crestfallen expression when he extended his hand to her.
"And I thought ye would keep to yer own women rather than taking advantage of an innocent lass." Marcán handed the man his fur.
"This lovely lass asked me to show her the hot springs."
When Marcán looked again at Astrid, he had hoped for some show of guilt. Instead, he was met with a defiant glare.
"Oh did she?" Marcán asked as he shifted his gaze to the other men. "Were ye afraid ye'd lose yer way on yer own?"
Pádraig offered a small smile. "If the lass wishes for the men to join us, they are more than willing, and I do not object."
The man was speaking of accepting the offer he'd believed she was making. Marcán tasted blood where he'd bitten his cheek to hold back his angry words. Rather than speak to Pádraig, whom he was tempted to strike, he turned to Astrid. "Did ye wish for more from these men than seeing the hot springs?"
Her eyes were angry, and her shoulders had rounded to their natural bend. Relieved to see her drop the flirtatious facade, he smiled. Just in time, he noticed the flash of anger and realized his smile had been misinterpreted. She thought he was laughing at her. He caught her hand just before it made contact with his cheek.
"How dare ye!" Astrid said, letting loose her tirade.
Though striking another was a punishable offense, Marcán was more than willing to stand there and let her have at him. She did not care for him, but her behavior—willfulness… stubbornness… whatever Diarmuid wanted to label her rants—was merely an indication of the great depth of her passion. Marcán recognized it because he was the same way. Mayhap that was what drew him to her. That he would not be the one to guide her to that knowledge was like a knife to his gut.
His tone hardened. "I dare because I am here to protect ye."
She ripped her hand out of his grasp and stopped just short of stomping her injured foot. Her voice shrill, she said, "I do not want ye to protect me! I want nothing of ye!"
Eyes of the Seer by Ashley York is yet another mesmerizing hit by this author. EYES OF THE SEER will have you turning pages.
